World War Z: a Movie Review and More Book Info

Hi, everybody! How's things? I'm doing well. Hope everybody out there's all happy and healthy and all that good stuff. So, here's the thing. I saw the movie World War Z last night. I've gotta tell you everybody...I was sorely disappointed. I'll try to go into as much detail as I can without giving away too much of the plot. So...here goes...
Okay. The first say half hour or so of the movie are by far the best. It's tense with lots of Whiskey Tango Foxtrot moments...that were unfortunately mostly in the trailers that have been kicking around for about a year now. However after that things immediately start going downhill from there.
The relationship between Brad Pitt's character and his wife (seriously, you won't remember anybody's name after you leave the movie anyway) seems almost tacked on by the writers and as a quick aside Brad Pitt seems to be the most understanding husband in the history of anything. If you do see it you will get that last bit a little better.
Also I could not help but notice that there seems to have been a couple changes made to the story going from the book to the movie that I'd wager were politically motivated. For instance, in the book, the outbreak is spread in part from it's initial start point in China via black market organs harvested from political prisoners picked up during government 'health and welfare' sweeps. In the movie, the virus starts in Shanghai and no mention of the black market organs is made (which is an actual thing. Look it up.). In the book, Israel does fairly well for itself in the course of the outbreak. However in the movie the smart, prepared Israelis are undone by...Palestinians they let past their barricades.
By the midpoint in the film the writers seem to have run out of steam. The zombies stop being scary and you will end up laughing at them. All suspension of disbelief will be taken out behind the barn and have it's head bashed into a fine goopy paste. And the 'solution' to the zombie epidemic will have you rolling your eyes in disbelief and facepalming. It just seems highly illogical and like the writers were just trying to pull something out of their ass to come up with something so that they could end this thing. It is seriously that bad.
All things being equal, if you want my advice, wait for this to come out on Netflix or your other video streaming thing of your choice. It's not worth the price of seeing it in the theaters but would make an interesting rental.
On the book front: life keeps getting in the way but I've about got it ready to go. I know, I know I've said this before but I mean it this time. I'm shooting for a July 4th release date. I'm also working on a website for the series which I will link up to this blog as soon as I can. In the mean time, here's what the cover art for the new book will look like!
